Automattic = dot-wp?

Yesterday this post was made by Matt Mullenweg regarding the recent accreditation of Automattic as a domain registrar.

I think this leads to a real possibility of dot-wp top level domains (TLD)! As I have recently fallen to the little known affliction of IDA I am quite concerned that this may create a unscratchable itch?! Will this create a digital land-rush for .wp domains?

There is also the potential for a dot-blog TLD that may be more appealing to the Internet in general. As it is, for more general details regarding the creation of a new TLD, head over to ICANN and read this article

Inspirational Stress Relief

Sometimes the best intentions are overridden by better intentions. I am not one to practice “retail therapy” but my wife can present a convincing argument when she wants to. I set my work schedule aside to spend some quality time with my wife … and spend some money, too.

It was a very long week and stress levels were building so we, or better said she, decided to get ourselves ready and after some additional online research we headed out to get her a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet to be used in her new theme creation venture. We’ve been looking at these tablets for a while and the large model seemed the best fit.

I also registered a couple of new domain names that may be used for these ideas:

My wife also insisted I get a new monitor as I have not been overly happy with the one I’ve had for some time now. It required too many video setting adjustments when I am truly a proponent of the plug-n-play models of hardware. We looked at a few models and chose the NEC MultiSync EA231WMi Even though I was not happy with my Acer AL2016W, I did add it as a second monitor for my desktop PC.

I may not have accomplished as much work as I wanted to get done yesterday and I admit to being a willing participant; but, we did accomplish something of great value: inspirational stress relief via retail therapy.

All About Me

It’s Friday night; it’s been a long week; and, I was in the mood to consolidate my brand, or at least prepare for consolidating it.

So, with a few very strong Vodka-Cranberry drinks behind me, I went to my preferred domain registrar, Dayana Domains, and started buying some domain names: one I have been considering for a while; and, the others just because I liked them.

They will all point here, EdwardCaissie.com, for the time being but may eventually have their own domain space and activity via my hosting services at BuyNowHosting.com. I would have registered JellyBeen.com but someone has been squatting on that domain for years hoping to gain from the potential of a misspelled candy name?! (Seriously? Let it go!)

Also to note, some time ago I addressed my preferred spelling of the design name JellyBeen, at my WordPress.com blog; here is a link to the post.

Here are some interesting links to follow:

… and on this day the Internet domain name JaclynWilson.com was registered. Happy Birthday!

New Domains

Although I will often think of a great domain name when I check for it’s availability more often than not someone thought of the idea first.

This month I was much more imaginative … or lucky depending on your perspective. I have acquired the following domains, all currently parked on top of this site:

I have some interesting ideas I am considering for each of these domains but as I find my time being consumed by a new project I will just consider them for their potential.

Have you registered a great domain recently? What will you do with it?
