Enter Title Here

Enter title here … seems like as good as place as any to start a post. This little cue phrase is new in the latest version of WordPress and I am still not sure if it is a help or a hindrance to actually getting started.

I am still blocked, but only slightly, as I am starting to type this post out and realize it is simply a rambling of words … and to that I say, “HA … take that you empty page!” Perhaps I should write empty textarea but that is neither here nor there as long as I can reduce the empty space it holds. Which reminds me of something I wrote what now seems like ages ago:

The release is in the writing; prose to free the mind and unfetter the soul.

… and so I write. Why do you write?

Cheers!

A picture is indeed worth a thousand words.

It’s Friday night and we are just sitting back and relaxing with our liquid liberation!

These glasses, filled with Stella Artois, are currently available at the LCBO; and, since this is one of our favorite beers we could not resist buying two gift boxes, each containing a glass and a bottle of beer.

An interesting thing to note, the beer tastes just that much better when drank from these glass … are you as thirsty as I am?

Four Words

Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone, put aside your fears and push ahead.

Fortune favors the bold.
Cicero

Four words to take to heart when you are not sure if or even how to go forward.

New Domains

Although I will often think of a great domain name when I check for it’s availability more often than not someone thought of the idea first.

This month I was much more imaginative … or lucky depending on your perspective. I have acquired the following domains, all currently parked on top of this site:

I have some interesting ideas I am considering for each of these domains but as I find my time being consumed by a new project I will just consider them for their potential.

Have you registered a great domain recently? What will you do with it?

Have You Blogged Today?

Often times out of nowhere the greatest ideas comes to mind, and just as fast they disappear back into the imagination. Although sometimes you are lucky enough to capture one of these elusive ideas and write it down.

Just a moment ago I had one. I immediately sat down at my keyboard and I started writing this post. I know it was a great idea; and I’m equally sure I know you have realized the idea has slipped back into my imagination.

I am still realizing a great benefit from this missed opportunity … it still generated the impetus to write. All things being equal, this is always a good thing.

Recap WPTO June 2010

Yesterday was another great gathering of the Toronto WordPress Meetup group.

Alfred presented a great overview of Custom Fields and some of their potential uses. There was a great follow-up discussion talking about various uses and ideas how to implement them. Potential issues and concerns were also discussed as part of the presentations Q&A session afterward.

Our second presenter, Martin, was unable to attend due to an emergency which, to my understanding, the situation is much improved … stay healthy, Martin!

With the open session, the group discussed various points in regards to the recent release of WordPress 3.0 as well as helping one of our members work through a manual upgrade of one of their web sites.

Last, and actually first as well as on a personal note, I was given the fortunate experience of meeting a visiting group of Chinese Professors from north of Shanghai on my way to the Meetup.

I like to watch people, and simply could not help myself but smile when I saw this group of people enter onto the subway train and in a very tourist fashion start taking pictures of the various items of interest, such as the route map above the door, the station platform through the door windows … and me. I’m hoping to have copies of the pictures I was in emailed to me for a future post. In the meantime, please visit one of the group’s web site here: http://QQ.com (we exchanged calling cards). It may not be a WordPress site but maybe being a dot-com they will consider it … and QQ, as my new friend says refers to laughing. Enjoy the site, although you may need to brush up on your Chinese (or use a translator).

Toronto WordPress Meetup June 2010

The Toronto WordPress Meetup for June 2010 is tomorrow the 19th at 2:00PM. We are meeting for the third time at Paupers Pub at 539 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON M5S 1Y6; and, as I just checked on the Meetup web page we had our 20th RSVP Yes this morning!

I am looking forward to this Meetup. We have two presentation scheduled on the agenda. The first will be a short presentation on custom fields by Alfred Ayache; and, the second will be by Martin Hurford on the template hierarchy.

There is also a remote possibility of a guest (via Montreal) invited with a comment on one of his recent blog posts here.

Remember to use the twitter hash tag #wpto when tweeting about the Meetup.

Thelonious Is In The House

Being a self-professed WordPress junkie I would be remiss in not making the obligatory post regarding the release of WordPress 3.0 … which I saw only a short while ago on the @wpdevel twitter account.

All of the sites I am involved with, or manage, have been successfully updated to this latest version of WordPress.

Manna From Heaven

My version, at least tonight, is a Filthy Chai Latte Grande no-water from Starbucks … what’s yours?

It’s really a rather simple drink, although it has taken a few explanations:

  1. You start with a Chai Latte … Grande;
  2. Add two shots (one shot is only Dirty) of espresso;
  3. and, no-water makes it just that much richer and flavorful.

That would be it. Try it yourself sometime … and enjoy both a tea and a coffee at the same time!
