If given a second chance don’t be foolish enough to think the first forgotten.
Waiting
A test of patience is always won by one waiting the longest
Photo Walk: Lake Aquitaine 2013-08-31
A collection of processed digital photographs taken on a late afternoon / early evening walk with my wife Terri. Admittedly some of the images have been over processed but what can you expect when you just got Adobe Creative Cloud and are simply having some fun pushing buttons and moving sliders. That’s also not to mention I am (finally) using the latest stable releases of the Photocrati Media plugins: NextGEN Gallery and NextGEN Pro … just makes sense since I am the Lead Happiness Engineer.
Lead Happiness Engineer – NextGEN Gallery
Wow … what a day!
Day one as the Lead Happiness Engineer – NextGEN Gallery at Photocrati Media was quite an experience.
Today I was challenged.
Today I laughed out loud, digitally and working at my desk.
Today I was humbled.
Today I was exhilarated.
Today I was engaged, involved, drawn-in and blown away … all at once.
Today was one of the best days I have ever had …
… and probably the best thing about today, I get to do it all again tomorrow!
PS: If you were playing along from home and didn’t guess this was what I was referring to when I quit my job, now you know.
Last Day After 24 Years
Just had a call from the recently retired president wishing me well going forward on my last day at my current job … I'm impressed.

– The previous owner, still welcome to come in every day and read his newspaper at 90 years young, wished me well (again) and invited me to come visit anytime I want; mind that one of the new owners said to “send an email” and they will “put me on the guest list” … hopefully there will be a few more Friday BBQ lunches still to attend this year.
– I wrote an email auto-responder for those that I did not have the opportunity to speak with personally
I’m going home for lunch …
… and so ended my last day after 24 years.
Five More Days
Last week I quit my job. Perhaps you read the post …
… and although my role was multifaceted it predominantly revolved around Custom Service related tasks as well as Purchasing, Inventory Management and related responsibilities. Last week, one of the team members was on holidays so I made sure to pick up the slack and began preparations for what I was hoping would be an easy transition period for the Customer Service team (and the new owners).
Today, I arrived early. I was prepared to start the transition process with the other Customer Service team members only to find out they both called in sick?!
Tomorrow will be four more days …
I Quit My Job Yesterday
I started 24 years ago … and I quit yesterday! I tendered an appropriate Letter of Resignation but I’ve always wanted to say:
I Quit! Cha-Cha-Cha!
(Although I did write my wife after using that as the subject line … we both laughed about it later.)
It reminds me of an old television ad for the lottery. I didn’t actually win lottery, I did something better.
I have taken a position with a great company that works with WordPress; no, it’s not Automattic even though someone tried guessing on Twitter.
@andrea_r No … not even any of their related companies. Which I always found odd, but I am very happy with where I am going.

My new title will be: Lead Happiness Engineer – … er, well, if I gave my whole new title then what fun would it be for anyone else playing along.
Care to guess?

Insight
Anyone taking themselves seriously as a self-titled guru should look up humility first.
Education
Learning something new may not always be the easiest thing to do, but there is no reason anyone should ever consider themselves not capable of learning.
